Pentatonic music for your home

Pentatonic music for your home

What is a scale?

It is a rising or sliding arrangement of notes in a certain order of pitch. The pentatonic scale gets its name from the Latin words penta meaning ‘five’ and tonus which means ‘sound’ or ‘tone’ and so the pentatonic scale is simply a five note musical scale.

Rudolf Steiner suggested pentatonic music for the young child, as it produces the ethereal and dreamy sound which can be commonly found in Asian music. A young child’s body spends a lot of energy growing physically in its first seven years. Steiner believed that maintaining this dreamy state in the early years, instead of awakening higher intellect too soon with academic learning, frees up a child’s energy for their physical growth.

To support this, Growing Instincts team has a lot of musical instruments to offer that you can have at home for your child to play and enjoy the music.  As Plato has stated, “Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”
